Since the vast majority of people moved out of the wilderness and into a more “civilized” society, the question of whether this was/is the best way for people to live has been in question. Are we more natural beings that would thrive best closest to nature and isolation? Are we more social beings that thrive best when our intellect and social skills are applied together? Is there a balance between the two?
I’m interested in hearing others perspective on this in greater detail. Please leave yours in the comments below.

Upon thinking about your question, I believe there should be a balance between the two. I truly believe as a Christian, we are to assemble ourselves together as the Word says, and to encourage and lift each other up. We are also to be an example to others, and to tell of Jesus & what he did for us.
So, for the balance, I think there is also a lot to be said about living, and being surrounded by nature. The serenity of being in the wilderness or forest, provides us the chance to appreciate the beauty of Gods creation so much more. It also gives us the needed
“Quiet time” we need to hear His voice in the stillness of nature, (which is sometime difficult to hear in the hustle and bustle of our everyday life in the community, because of so many distractions) Even Jesus isolated Himself when needed.
So in conclusion, I believe we need a healthy balance between the two……..
Good question, it really made me realize I need more nature “Quiet time”.

I think you nailed it with Balance being the key word. Lots of people struggle with balance in nearly every aspect of life. Sometimes I would like to just disappear and go camping by myself for a week. I feel like I need it.
